Getting Started

The first step in being a part of the Challenge is getting registered.  Once you have paid your registration fee through PayPal or by one of the other payment options and filled out your account information on the website you will receive an email giving you instructions on how to fill out your Creating Wellness Lifestyle Questionnaire online.

Once the questionnaire has been completed you will receive an email instructing you to schedule your assessment and where your assessment will take place.  Your assessment must be completed during the designated times.

Referral Rewards

We are pleased to introduce this year a referral rewards program which will allow you to earn personal training sessions with one of our elite trainers.  If you refer a new competitor to the program, who completes their registration process and joins the 2010 Frederick Wellness Challenge, you will receive a personal training session valued at $50.  There will be a limit of 2 referral rewards per Wellness Challenge which is equal to a potential of a hundred dollars worth of additional training sessions to help you reach your goals.

You will need to make sure that when you refer someone they enter your name and email address in the appropriate box in their registration form.  If they forget to type your name and email as the referral source they will not have another opportunity to list you as the referrer.  If that happens, you will miss out on your referral reward. There will be no exceptions.  Confirmation of your earned rewards will be given in your information packet at the Kick off event. Training sessions will be scheduled with the trainer directly and you will be given instructions on just how to do that and the times that are available.

The First Event

September 11, 2010 will be your first event with the Challenge. You will receive a report showing you areas you may need to work on over the next 10 weeks and you will receive your "Wellness Quotient" telling you where your health falls on the Wellness Continuum.

You will also meet our Challenge trainers, the Frederick Wellness Challenge Staff, and Partners. You will be given a calendar of events and a packet of info that will let you know what to expect from the 2010 Fall Challenge.   We will take time, during this first meeting for a short Q&A session and yes....you will be particpating in your very first Adventure Challenge .  Please come prepared with good running or hiking shoes, comfortable workout clothing, and a desire to win and have fun!

If you are unable to make the September 11th event because of prior engagements please send us an email and we will setup another time to go over your report with you and make sure you get your training info.

Weekly Events

Each week you will have the opportunity to participate in 3 Wellness Challenge Events which will be a combination of group training sessions and possibly an Adventure Challenge.

Monday-Friday - You will have 2- one hour group session scheduled during the week on Tuesday and Thursday evenings beginning at 7:00pm.  These trainings are done outside and you should come prepared to workhard and improve with each training.

Saturday - Every Saturday morning there will be a Challenge event scheduled for you to participate in.  This could be a regular group training session, a special group training session such as yoga fusion, or an Adventure Challenge. Our start times could be between 7:00 am and 9:00am depending on the type of event and they can last anywhere for 1-4 hours depending on how quickly you are able to complete the challenge.  Most events will take place in Baker Park or Upward Enterprises which is located at the Clagett Center just a few miles past FSK mall out Buckeystown Pike.

Frederick Resident

You don't need to be a Frederick Resident to participate.  This event is open to anyone who would like to improve their level of health and wellness this summer.

Teams

Although the Frederick Wellness Challenge is an individual competition, during specific events we may place each competitor on a team.  Even though the team aspect is not key component to one winning the Challenge, past competitors will tell you that it is an important component for the purpose of support and accountability.
